Why wood shavings? I use a little sand mixed with 'Loft White' but only around the areas where a lot of droppings are like under rows of V perches and just under the nest boxes. BUT ONLY use SILVER sand - it is nowhere near as dusty as builders sand! ATB Phil |

| Because it lasts us the whole season and we can concentrate more on the birds instead of having to clean floors every few days..We clean boxes out twice aday |

I see from the clip on Face-ache, something that looks like you have an area in front of the boxes where the shavings are - is that right? I guess all the droppings collect in the shavings, then when it gets really mucky, you remove it and put down new. What a great idea! I have a friend in Belgium and another in Holland that does the same - Did you get the idea from the Continent? For me it is very good to hear about different fanciers and the way they Look After/Train/Race their birds. Please, all of you members, keep sending in the tips. How about some of you taking a subject you know about and writing a short article on it for us members. Good luck to ALL this weekend. Phil |

| I use shavings with diatamaceos eath. Ground up seashells I beleive. Kils fleas, mites, ticks. Very cheap, very effective. Sprinkle a little on my three "tick taxis" ( the dogs!) |
