| well you can only blame the Chinese and the internet for getting prices so high and all the advertisements
A few of my friends have brought pigeons for no more than £15 max and they have been world class pigeons |

| ive just sold some on elimar, 6 ybs for 75 quid...that works out £12.50 each which is for nothing.....I put them up at 11.00 pm last night, and when I checked at 6.50 am this morning they had sold.
£12.50 a yb is for nothing, but you only need one to win, which might be better than a bird someone has given £100 for. |

For me - This is one of the biggest problems that we have with our sport - Prices of birds are getting (have gotten) NUTS! As has been said before, - NO pigeons is worth that much money! But everyone is jumping on the same band-wagon. They think that, just because they have paid a lot of money for a bird, they have to charge BIG money for the babies. And in a way, they are right. If you pay a lot for a bird, you HAVE to charge a large amount for the youngsters, just to get your money back. The reasoning - 'they' say - is "The pigeons Pedigree is Golden" but the pigeon might not be golden. We all know how many Top Quality pigeons we have to breed from to get ONE Top Quality young bird. And I am sure, there are hundreds of stories about top winning birds that have been bred from, not so fantastic parents. Take birds from The Coopers of Bath, UK, there pigeons are crazy prices. Even people that have the same type or strain of bird as the Coopers, can charge a lot of money for totally un-related pigeons. I was recently looking for some Deweerdt pigeons and was lucky to get help from another member of this forum, and was able to get what I wanted for a reasonable price. But I could have paid crazy money from another fancier, if I had been stupid enough to do so. I guess, in a way- no bird is worth more that £50 unless is has won lots! What do we all think? | I do think some fanciers pay far too much for pigeons phil, and especially untested birds......the most I have ever paid for pigeons is £100 each for two of them, which for me is a lot.......the rest have been cheaper.
I don't think just because you pay a lot of money for a pigeon, it guarantees its a good one.... |

If I had seen them I would have been the new owner shame you didn't see them lofty, I didn't put them on there for the money really,(hence the low price) I would have preferred them to have gone to forum members....... |
