young birds dying

any members help a mate of mine has had some young birds dying these are on the darkness at the moment and look healthy with no signs of illness the only sign when one is going to die is when it starts to breath heavy and gaping for air before it dies the dropping are all ok and in good condition with plenty of body on them

Sorry to hear this mark, could it be some sort of respiratory or maybe a digestive problem?

don't no dave but the lofts are immaculate with belts under the nest boxes and box perches pan tile roof and the lofts are hoovered out every day

Mark that's a tricky one mate, could it be a viral infection within the gut ???

could be don but as they are not mine i don't no he is going to send droppings and swab test to belgica for tests just thought some members may have seen this before

That sounds really weird, never heard of anything like that before, just another thing for us pigeon men to worry about.

Strange that one mark. I am sure somebody will know.hope it gets sorted

poisoning no one can know for sure without a autopsy as theirs no outward signs

Any chance Mark     of him seeing a local pigeon vet on site there type of thing. That's what I would be doing, because I suspect his problem is not going to be solved on a site such as ours, as his problems require a  real expert  to sort his issues/concerns out I'm .

that's what i told him to do as this may end up with no young birds left at all had a problem like this my self about 20 years ago with young birds dying all looking good with no external symptoms open up the loft in the morning and one would be dead go to work come home and another one would be dead on the perch just as if was asleep the vet gave me baytril for ten days didn't no what it was

had a word with a friend of mine and he thinks it could be adenovirus but when your freind gets his results back from the vet shall have to post the comments mate

its a strange one ,mark, and very worrying ......he needs to consult a avian vet or de weerd.

I think the droppings would be loose with edeno virus

Will agree 110% they need testing quickly

Whoa, I can't imagine how he feels, losing birds like that, just dropping of the perches what a worry.

Touchy subject that one Hal I would suggest thou some of the non believers should just try it etc if they have an issue at times & then the learning curve may just come into play I believe.

Not that you would ever wish the subject under discussion here on any one etc Redrog but I believe it would be a real test on some thing like Virkon S or even Colloidal silver etc as to what they both claim they will fix in there speal, if put to the real test of fixing this type of issue.

Never used it on pigeons myself. Used it in the pig barns as a disinfectant.

Mark, ask him if he's planted any new flowers in the garden recently.
