how much money.

how much money does it cost to send birds off for a race?does everyone take lots of birds or do you pick out the best ones that are trapping well at the time?

hi geordiejen, to enter birds in my club its 80p per bird for the first 10, then 50p for eachbird after that...........so the total will dependon how many birds a member sends to the race, as im only racing ybs this year im hoping to send all what i have after i have trained them, obviously i will loose some before they even get to the first race.......hope i dont tho`....

In my old club it is £1 per pigeon and £1 for clock setting

Also ther is a £1 nom but you can enter every pigeon winner take all

i think they have just put ours up to 80p don, think it was 50p per bird last season..........

ours will be between £1 - £2 per bird with a £1 nom on one bird only

suppose the cost is ok as long as it goes to give good prize money.....................

in our club its 50p a bird then five pool birds at £2 we also have a meat hamper to fly for which costs a £1 per bird £3 lottery bonus ball number and £2 blind card number, plus £" youngbird nom which we pay everyweek until the youngbird national where there is £1000 prize money to fly for, i sent 24 cocks it cost me £41,

and this is just at club level, do things get even more expensive as fanciers enter nationals etc.....?

Ian that is a lot of money but with all the extra's when you do win you hit the jackpot

yes when i enter tyne and wear championship club will cost around ahudred quid to send them

60p a bird our club not sure of rest meeting thursday will know then, for fed theres a once a year payment of £140, you can send as many birds old and y/bs as you want no extra charge, i didnt pay it with just racing y/bs, but will next year a big saving, racing old and y/bs, just pools on top of 140

think i remember ray saying somewhere its not a cheap hoby anymore, hes right it isnt........

dont know don, since ive come back to pigeons its all about money.......all i see is products which claim to do this and that and all at extortionate prices......evrything to do with pigeons is all about spending money.

You can say that again mate no wounder we have no new fanciers coming into the sport

i suppose if it wasnt sometimes for the kindness of some fanciers new starters would have to spend a fortune on starting up.........
