| Make a long story short. Friend of mine, David Ottaway, excellent pigeon racer here in Southern Ontario for many years at all distances, retired. He bought a place on the East Coast. Nova Scotia. He built his lofts contacted other folks and started a club. About 20 members in the club now. The club is taking off! Free birds to newbies, helpful advice and good sportsmanship. His site is here. Worth looking at. https://www.facebook.com/groups/131727070933210/ |

| Its been said before if you try to help fanciers in your own club with free birds they always think that they are no good and would be happy to be ripped off good on your mate hal for changing that idea hope it will catch on |

| In our area and I think in most areas fanciers swap and exchange pigeons with no money involved to the benefit of all concerned.
You can often see that a winner has been bred by a fellow club member when the results are published, so the breeder will be as pleased as the winner.
The vast majority of fanciers are in the sport for all the right reasons, but a few bad apples????.
Regards. |

| I do think it all depends on the individual club, I know of certain clubs, for example ken / friendslofts club in wigan, it is a small club which is mainly a group of friends who help and exchange pigeons between them........whereas my own club isn't like that, in my personal situation anyway, it may be true for other members who are on a friendship basis with another member, but I find the only time the top flyers let pigeons go is for the breeder buyer, weather they give their best, I don't know....but I`m sorry to say, I do not....yes I try give something decent in the hope of them doing well, and on some occasions they have, but I`m not going to let other club members have the same blood ive paid a lot of money for.
sorry, but that's the way I look at it.....on the other hand ive given forum members birds, because we are not in direct competition . |
