YB Feed When Racing...?

what are members going to feed their ybs on when racing starts, ive got mine on breed and wean for now, but was thinking of racing on Gerry plus......or maybe some sort of widowhood mix

Wow! That should get a lot of advise! Look at the situation with logic. Young birds are growing and feathers will be eventaully falling. Protien is good for feather growth. Carbs help build muscles. So cereal grains and protien seeds. So as to not chop and change give them a basic mix you can make yourself as needed. Corn, wheat, etc,. peas or Safflower or similar to boost protien when needed. Basic cheap grains, add or subtract. Think Misty feeds same all year round. I do basically. But a lot less protien than others. JMO.

Safflower bad bad season for that down here Hal . Price gone up over 50% a bag etc. Now selling it in places in 15kg bags to help take the pain away .

I will keep mine on a high protein until the racing then gerry plus il add a few maples Tues and Wed evening feed,alway get a handful of linseed every morning. by and clo on the feed twice a week.

mine will go onto the breeding mix being used here for first 10/14 days then gradually lighten it up with junior plus versel laga ...I use the junior plus throughout the season adding fats or protein when I wish ...I don't like the idea of a carb high diet for ybs at all until after they have come off the darkness system and then I would only use it 3/4 days of the week but prefer the junior plus mix anyway for the ybs basic diet
