| Subject: General Managers Longivity Sun Mar 25, 2018 5:03 pm | |
| I have either corresponded with or conversed with every General Manager of the RPRA during the past 50 odd years.
Every one has been helpful and shown the highest integrity.
The office would appear an ideal occupation, the salary being reasonable and the chance of travelling and meeting numerous different people very appealing, in fact a job for life.
Then why have there been so many during that time?
At the same time there have been the same members of Council for the same period, and longer.
There must be something amiss along the line that the managers found unacceptable.
It is inadvisable to have the same people on the Council for a long period, as I have stated numerous times over the past 50 years.
You need fresh blood and a new outlook for matters to improve and you will not get it until the penny drops.
Regards.

| what "powers" does the manager actually have, is his role actually needed...? the reason I ask is this, when a position becomes vacant for a new general manager, he / she has to apply, then he / she has to be interviewed, who interviews him, and decides to give him a job...? do the interviewers have more power than the general manager, as they are judging his ability, and giving him a job. what does he actually do that couldn't be done without him ...? does he make final decisions on things, or are all decisions voted upon...? as far as I know, we the members do not have a say in who becomes general manager, |

| each new manager has his hands tied by the hangers on behind him and in the end the last one followed their protocol until he was called out but the buck stops with the manager |

| You need a in house manager to supervise the day to day business of the Sport.
The Council decide who the manager is.
Just as they decide which propositions should be passed, using numerous devious means, just as they did, as I said they would, at the last AGM.
Apathy, nothing but Apathy, has been the ruination of the sport, no one worried about anything or anyone as long as they can race their pigeons, those of us who have attempted to change matters and pointed out the short comings have been ridiculed by those in advantageous positions, and in many cases if the truth be known about some of those classed as being the bees knees there would be some VERY RED FACES, not all is as it appears.
Regards. |
