You are doing very well and hope you have two for the last race, which is the one to win.

How many actually started in the loft and how many are left?

Regards.

no liberation yet wont be until around midday from what I can see of the forecast down at Portland and no doubt a few liberations down there in peregrine alley today...I think their was 520 entries misty about 260 left in at this point but can see a sticky race today with many liberations this afternoon ...after todays race it will be just the final left

Once thought of catching a few townies and testing them out as an experiment, they never appear to get lost.

But it would have meant stopping racing my own pigeons as I could not do both, and it would have taken several years but I do at times regret not doing so as I feel ferals will have a far stronger immune system built up over advercity and being exposed to ????, and could be introduced to my racers after selective breeding of them.

I discussed this with my late friend Steve Spinks and he thought it a good idea and mentioned it in the BHW.

This would have cost nothing other than the basics and would probably have ended up with far better pigeons than the ???? in your area charging over the odds for rubbish.

Too many pigeons from many quarters are sold on the backs of just one or two pigeons that have done well and then the fanciers sells from every pigeon in the loft.

Funny old game but many fanciers have only themselves to blame.

Regards.

Done that. Feral pigeons. In with my others. 2 of them years ago. Pics are on here somewhere. Idea was to let them mingle (young ones) to boost immunity. Lost one young at about 80 miles. Other disapeared from the loft.

Hal,
I was going to try the feral experiment in the early 70s not just one or two but several pairs and then use the young to progressively introduce them into the racers, this would not take ten minutes but several years, because you would have to at the same time safeguard the racing ability.

One of the reasons the present day pigeons are unhealthy has been covered numerous times and the losses confirms that something is drastically amiss, so if nothing is done to address the situation matters will only get worse season on season.

Problems have to be addressed they do not go away.

Regards.

Will they let you know if the other one returns in time for the final race?

In any case you have done better than many in having one in the Final.

Cannot realy get my head round so many being lost from the original number, when you consider it they have not realy been hard pressed and fanciers you would have thought only put in what they thought were their best bred ones.

Just hope you are done proud in the final.

Regards.
