Well would have been the first or second week April. But then with the birds not separated depends on the weather. Was around the end of March the earliest. Plenty of time for two rounds and fly the whole program.
Personally believe too many are trying to steal a March, and most others afraid they might.
I also nigh Always have a round of Late bred. Bred in the pink and best weather. was a time when we encourages our birds to go fielding. Did them and the youngsters the world of good.

Depends situation. I get rings first week in January. Can band stock young birds then. They are looking good, stock birds. Aviary blew away this morning. Howling gale. They went out and flew quite a while. But as they are all ex-racers they eventually trapped. Will band in January. Coldest time of the year. Racers do not raise young birds this year. June 21st will extend the lights on the young birds. Worked well last year. Have to keep the numbers down.

Yeah yb racing has changed over the years, the 70s it was February at the earliest like most of the club.
Widowhood brought it into January then wondered every year why the first round ybs were better feathered than younger ones come August...(didn't say i was the sharpest knife in the box).
Then the darkness system biggest change in racing since noah was a lad.
Once past the body moult their yearlings with yb rings.
