Those going to Blackpool . Why ?

Yes for those going .do you go to buy pigeons , just for the excitement of it all , the beer , to meet old friends. Or anything else ? . Just curious to see why .

We go just for the buzz of it all . Don't get me wrong we always buy bloody pigeons but it's not our main reason . Yes what's yours ?

had toyed with going this year but busy busy so no go now ...reasons are all that you mentioned its a great buzz at the shows ,enjoy the day

just a nosey git.....this year actually going up to buy a pair off a dutch lad that I should of bought last year but dithered and they were sold when I went back, but enjoy the "crac" and a heart attack breakfast before going in is always great

I always like to go to see how the latest "must have" breeds stack up, what's so different about these in the pens ? Great atmosphere, you can feel everyone's hopes and dreams for the new season buzzing around the place. Plenty happy faces, Friday night is a great night out, always meet someone new, what sales they're planning on going to, what they're going to buy. Just going to BLACKPOOL has a good upbeat feel about the place, good timing too after returning to work after Xmas to get a long weekend away shortly afterwards!
Like to see the display lofts for sale, the different corn mixes and the fancy traps and aviaries, nest boxes, baskets, infact everything associated with pigeons. Handle a few in the show and in the auctions, wander around and around the Winter Gardens, get a few pints down, scoff a decent Indians or Chinese or two........what's there not to like?

The buzz/enjoyment factor I could maybe suggest Ray with the Blackpool scenario there. For years here thou I've had this dream etc of walking through Blackpool & coming across a bunch of scruffy Geordie types & one of them, then rushed up & gave me a BIG BIG kiss, kiss . Fortunately thou I was saved as such as I woke up etc & then realised I had just had a lucky, lucky escape type of thing  .

OK Happy with the ???? thing Ray etc Safer all round maybe I suggest under the present climate type of thing here . That's it bunch of scrubber types out the back as such screaming out for their breakfast etc .

Visited the show numerous times and showed in a few.

Never a dull moment if you look in the right places.

The auctions can be a source of great amusement, seeing fanciers who have had one or two too many throwing their money away and being bumped up by stand ins etc;


If their are 100 pigeons for sale in one auction stats say there may be one or two real good pigeons, several average and the rest rubbish.

Or why do fanciers have to keep on buying?.

All the stalls offer some kind of interest and just handling a few birds for sale is also interesting and having a natter with the fanciers selling can be rewarding, found there was enough of interest of one kind or another to make it well worth while, and wonder at what is involved in it's production.

I love the buzz it gives, i have been going now for the last 35 years even if i haven't raced pigeons for the last 20 years due to work and family commitments

And I miss them loads but not long to wait till i'm racing again

Being cheif cook n drinker washer and doing it aĺl myself just never made an effort.
Tee-total now so pointless being around heads of which i was a fully paid up member

ive only been once, in 2012 I just decided on the Saturday morning I fancied going..........so jumped in the car and set off, without a clue how to get there or where the winter gardens were.

ended up enjoying the day, bumped into my brother and a couple of fanciers from leeds and we all walked round together, loved it.............

will go again one day (maybe)

You could have had the spare place we had going. It was only 85 quid 2 nights b and b

It's gone now and it's not about drink at all

Of course it is not ALL about drink, just wish I had what was spent on drink over the weekend.

Pity I missed out on that bargain Ray etc A bus trip to Blackpool & back as such with a bunch of Geordie types But then could just have been a horror story saga also just understanding the language issue there on the trip maybe .

That's not what Google told me David when I did the google thing in an attempt to make some sense of the message as such. The danger, danger sign actually went up etc I'm     Some thing about certain Geordie types & the dangers lurking, behind the pigeon sheds down in the garden as such . Still  maybe no worse than here with our tennis open down at the local park at the moment. Chinese type messages plastered on court for all to see there  Suspect thou maybe, it may just be saying we are coming to take your little island over now to escape the Geordie types & what they get up too down in the garden & behind the there pigeon sheds between races, to just relieve their boredom factor    . & XXX.

Your not supposed to laugh Ray etc at any thing posted here, as this is a serious type forum I suggest & what goes on behind the pigeon loft as such down in the garden, stays behind the pigeon loft as such down in the garden, I think  .
