| Appears a very good OL race Hal.
Well thought out and a good test on top of which you get your pigeons back which is a bonus.
Bird limit also a good thing.
Would have thought more than 500 entries though, (or does it mean 500 fanciers?.)
Regards.

| Me thinks it would be a sickener if any were lost from a training (unecessary) toss at this stage.
Any that maybe hit trouble (could be the best) would not have time to recover.
Not like your own pigeons where you can rest those who are not in top condition.
Just gets more of a puzzle what the actual stratergy is.
Regards. |

| Not realy with you there oldstrain.
Even the training where you could toss a stone to the loft from have had losses, so much for the best in the country.
The idea is to give every pigeon an equal chance so far as is possible (not an easy accomplishment).
There is no way one can guarantee a raptor safe liberation from any point, nor several other possibilities, so every training toss has risks not relative to a pigeons abilities.
The losses already are more than acceptable.
To have a training toss two days before a race is not conjusive to having all those involved in their prime condition two days later, so you may have the best pigeons handicapped for no reason of their own.
By now a training toss should only be necessary if the pigeons are confined to the loft for the length of time they would become stale.
We all have our own ideas, I respect others but they are mine.
Regards.

| If one wants to test their' birds .... THEN they must be. Blow homes where 'Paper Bags' could win 'Blow Homes' which prove not a jot regards the quality of the bird(s). Even if clocking a dozen in.are usless and mean nothing. Distand=ce and hard races mean they are for future stock REGARDLESS of distance the fancier wants to fly. |

| Would have no problem with the pigeons being liberated in harsh conditions in a RACE.
What I am talking about is taking unecessary risks with e pigeons well being in an unecessary training toss.
Very rarely trained a pigeon, all they need is good health and happiness and the desire not to be away from home too long, along of course with the natural ability to do what is asked of them.
Sows ear etc;
Regards.

point being misty that it was stated awful weather so no chance of training or a hotspot and weather has been dandy so every chance to do a trainer if thats what they want to do as stated in the loft updates |

| TUESDAY UPDATE August 18th, 2020 Good Evening
The training went ok today but soon after the liberation a falcon got around them and split them into a couple of groups but they worked in.
The birds have seemed edgy the last few days with some of them hovering above the lofts yesterday they are not how i want them and after careful consideration and a discussion with the CEO we have decided to delay marking until i am happy to do so.
I want to go to the next race that we done all we can to get a good one and not take chances and i am sure most not everyone will understand.
The final race will be delayed but they will be in good feather and deep down i know we done our best.
If i am happy they will get a 30 mile trainer on Thursday depending if the gales arrive early on Thursday.
It may be possible we mark Saturday for Sunday unless organsations change to Sunday race because of the weather were just have to see as this weather is so erratic at present.
Tomorrow is looking like a wash out with rain so it may not be possible to get them out but we will see.
Some of the later ones today have been in the rest bay building back up and have joined the main team.
I will update tomorrow evening.

| So it appears if the gales arrive early on Thursday there will be a training toss.
Sounds reasonable to me. ???????.

| WEDNESDAY UPDATE August 19th, 2020 Good Evening
The forecast was right and today was a wash out so the birds were kept in.
We will be training tomorrow mid morning as long as wind is not gale force.
Keep an eye on Benzing for a liberation time.

| Good to see them all back.
As for the weather and prospects for another race, never seen such changeable weather from one day to the next.
8.00 pm 22 degrees, been like an oven all day.
Good for neither man nor beast.
