Had to put a good bird to sleep over the weekend,  the hen thats topped the fed for us in 2012 which was the bird on the little write up David put on , on the left side of the group page . She was a good hen her and bred us the odd decent bird now and again  , but she lost a lot of weight and wasn't her normal self so sadly had to go .

Yes that is the drawback with having close relationships with any animal.

We know in all probability we will outlive them but the pleasure they give is not obtainable elsewhere.

I can still feel at a loss of some of my four legged and also some winged friends the feelings never go away entirely.

But are we not very lucky in the first place.

Regards.

She must have been a reasonabl age and who knows what can ail individuals whilst others are fine.

The only problems I had on occasions was going light and I always had some Old Hand white tablets that cured it in most cases.

It was always just one pigeon involved at a time.

Think overall we have ruined the natural health and immune system. most pigeons need constant treatment which in its self cannot be good, we have no idea just what some fanciers give their pigeons or I feel many would not sleep on a night.

If you consider humans, those performing best in many sports etc;come from every different type of family possible.

Think fanciers give up too soon, you canot build a winning family over night.

I mean a healthy and long living one.

Regards.

Totally agree.  They treat every 2 weeks now because not worried about the future because most won't be around to worry about it. They are cashing in now before its too late . Thats why they will put all sorts of crap into their birds because they want to win now and reap the benefits.  Money like everything in life spoils it all
