Hi all thanks for letting me join your forum i have just started up again with some rollers got a problem with them but hoping to sort it out tomorrow if not will pick your brains i also am a beekeeper have hens and ducks just like animals lol

hi all thanks for letting me join just trying to find my way round forum but got a Q if you can help i bought some rollers last sunday 2 days after i got them home 1 died then next day another died what it is they were twisting their necks founbeen told its pmv they have i think they called it treated them today so has any of you got any ideas what it could be

does sound like Paramyxo, and they obviously already had it before you bought them.....did you get them off a fancier who you know, or were they for sale on the internet...?

ether way I would let him/her know they are ill.

hi been shown that video and it is like what they are got some treatment for them and got them injected this morning they look ok but must have been infected when i got them it was a man on preloved lives in norwich sent my son for them but think he knew about it because my son said he was burning some nest boxes

Best thing to do is get them out of your loft and vaccinate all your birds they will be no good now possible carriers big problems

Anything that turns its head the wrong way jurks its head misses the food when its eating kill it separate the ones that look ok from your own birds and keep a close eye on them the new ones and your own now any birds showing signs of pmv dispose of immediately

this man needs naming and shaming, no wonder pigeon fanciers get a bad name selling ill birds knowingly....

aye....

you cant sell sick birds, its just not on.........some just want the money and they don't care what happens after that, not only are the sale birds infected, but the fanciers own birds could be wiped out.

dint have no birds before i got these ive took them out of the flight and put them into another that ive sprayed with jeys fluid then put them in there after we have injected them thats all we can do for best and hope they are ok been watching them and not seen any signs of what others had but its early days yet just hope they will be ok

good luck denise, fingers crossed no more become infected.......you've done all you can for now by having them injected.

injecting them will help the ones that have not gone too far backward...give natural immune boosters and plenty vitamins and minerals for the foreseeable future ...the ones that get over it will be ok to breed from or should I say the ones least affected,they will make a full recovery but may always have watery droppings ...a loft near me never vaccinated his stock and they got pmv he culled the worst ones and kept the ones showing minor signs ie trembling and the odd wipe of the eye on the side of the neck and these made a full recovery but some have always had wet droppings since ,good luck not a lot else you can do now but hope most pull through

ps give plenty b-vitamins a tea spoon of marmite to 2 litres of water would help just break the marmite down in a cup of cold water overnight and add to 2 litres of water or use brewers yeast that contains a lot of b-vitamins the main one you want is vitamin b12 you could use iodine or garlic too as a remedy to keep the canker count down or a bit of bicarb but don't compromise them with antibiotics at this stage

thanks all for your advice will get some vits tomorrow and as for their dropping not seen any thats watery poo it just look normal so to speak so hope we have got it in time

I would like to send 10 to 15 to one loft races. Not sure if that is taken care of at the loft or not. Not much info on some of those I'm wanting to throw money at
