Snow Today

woke up this morning, thick with snow and car covered ............set off at 7.30 got 1/4 of a mile and got stuck halfway up a hill, daughter had to drive while i pushed, eventually got going and turned back and came home .........all this took one hour to end up coming home

That's just a heavy frost

You southerners easily beaten pal, it's like that here in June and July

no gritting been done, and it was forecast ................had plenty of notice to do it , also snow ploughs cant be used due to the speed bumps in the road, what a shambles leeds city council is

it didnt actually look that bad colin, but the roads were terrible for driving on, ive driven in deeper snow without much problem, but this was bad ......ive never got stuck ever, nor had to come home, gona try again soon

What car you got David...we had a Qashqai and it was rubbish in the snow   slipping all over the place.  Going up hill it went to the otherside of the road. No control whatsoever...bought the kuga 4wd so hopefully this is ok ...

the audi in the top picture ray, every other year its been fine, only thing i can think is when it went for the MOT a couple of weeks ago, he said my tyre tread was legal, but advise i should change them within the next few months or certainly before the next MOT .........under normal dry conditions they are fine, but in the snow they are not good enough.

also ive found out the car has ESP which is a traction anti slide system, which is to stop you sliding, but if you do get stuck i needed to turn it off to enable the wheels to grip better ..........i`ll know for next time

i had a range rover 4 x 4 years ago, and that was no better in the snow

Half snow, half rain.

Real unpleasant weather.

Sad to see Capt. Tom has decided to change ranks.

Served his country well, respected our Royal Family, our means of Government by consent and, as all decent individuals should be thankful we have a Government with  the best interests of eveveryone at heart and do a great job under trying circumstances. 

His book is a realy good read.

Always snow here in winter Barnie up in the high country etc (6000 odd ft). Down where I'm thou I've seen snow flakes once or twice in my life time as such, thankfully    .

son spent a few years in Uralla knackered, got a little dusting of snow but generally heavy frosts and hard frozen ground in winter. Then total opposite of course in spring and summer time.

Truth be told Ray Yes     we do actually get snow in the near by hills here (10 miles) in winter at times. Being a coward type thou I leave it for the sight seer type crowd to enjoy & I just stick to my log fire as such.

If you want changeable weather and frightening circumstances visit Japan.

I spent  over two years there whilst in the army, also part in Korea.

Not only heat and humidity but fear of earthquakes, typhoons ( which I experienced two) one in the Bay of Biscay and the other in Kure, also tremours (which my lady friend  used to say " only bothered if they go up and down not across".

 Uncomfotably hot in the hot months and the opposite in the cold ones.

Also visited Singapore, Aden, Egypt, Cylon, Hong Kong and travelled all over Europe playng football for the Regiment.

 Also played cricket for same but posting came through half way through the season. Played football in the training batallion with the proffetionals doing their National Service.


Just thought I would put my pennies worth in.

Human nature to grumble about ones local weather I suggest Misty Not that hard thou I suspect to find those battling the elements in a much harsher way on this planet of ours most days of the week now with climate change being as it is    .  

if the weather effects your daily life, its ok to grumble .........it must be hard having to put up with that hot, sunny weather where you are knackered, i really do feel for you ........
