| these just starting to bounce back now, been to club and YBS in several lofts this week doing the rounds, some fanciers clean out daily, some on deep litter, some darkness, some natural, some got them split sexes, others all together, it's like coronavirus doesn't pick and choose: nobody's team are safe IMO |

I would bet that all those who get it this year and breed the same as this year will get it again next year and every year, irrespective of how they race their pigeons. Hope yours are on the mend barnie must be terrible seeing them ill after all the care you give them. Regards. |

| yes Misty this baffles me, but one thing I'm sure of is that no-one is safe I think it can crop up anywhere unless perhaps a fancier never brings in new stock at all and breeds their own resilient flock, who knows? These 75% - 80% over it now so hopefully that's it out of the way now. Another fancier at the club today stated his gone down with it for second time this year, deep litter and natural birds so like I said earlier no-one is safe. |

| the thing is alot of fanciers put any ailment down to what they call "young bird sickness" theres no such thing its aden coli syndrome the adeno aspect is a virus and then the e-coli infection comes along after a few days and for some its fatal ...as soon as a yb is ill most say its the sickness when in fact its not the virus its something else ,the thing is with pigeons every owner is his own vet ...some have more knowledge with disease and some have more common sense as to what to do so you get varying reports at the club but if adeno/coli comes calling theres no hiding place ....i think having imports heightens the chances of getting it ,thats my thoughts on it anyway, great to hear there getting better by the day colin atb |

| Could not agree more regarding imports, all our health problems with our feathered friends started when those intent on making money started getting them from the continent.
Wrote several times in the 70s what would happen, (even then they had to treat with Baytril once a Month or continental friend told me they would have no pigeons left)
YBS started over there.
Had we ignored the continentals at that time we would not have had many of the problems and our own birds would be far healthier, and in demand.
Hope Knackered is OK.

| i used to think it was darkness ybs that got yb sickness, but ive realised naturals can get it too .........but like darren said in one of his posts, a lot of fanciers straight away put anything down to yb sickness, a blanket diagnoses, and say everything and anything is yb sickness . |

| yes they go down sick, hold corn for a day or so then start chucking it up, but other ailments take over once they are down. E-coli and para-typhus type bugs get into their organs and not all recover even if they look and handle ok.
Many years ago it was alike to sour crop but over decades it's changed it's make-up into something more sinister. I think YBirds are like young school kids once measles or chickenpox does it's rounds then it doesn't matter what home life they come from; rough and ready back streets or central heated new estate, they can all end up getting it. |

| Pleased they have recovered barnie, would think nothing worse than seeing our feathered friends suffering.(relative to animals)
Sad fact that fanciers now have a harder time than fanciers in the past in all respects.
Instead of having healthier and long lived pigeons we have drug dependant and short lived both performance and age wise ones, not the young present day fanciers fault but the idiots from the 60 and 70s. ( could name a few who feature in the BHW with big grins on their faces who totally ignored the warnings).
Hope they train well, will be interesting.
Regards. |

| Been 7 miles this morning Misty and beat me back but still much to do, first yb race next week but might miss out looking at the forecast ahead..... These just left natural with the intention of getting 3 or 4 races to school them, I could just train them but I now think they have to go to school as youngins |

| Wish I looked as healthy as them lot barnie.
Trouble is today know one knows what tomorrow holds with the virus and the weather is no longer predictable the Winter could be a disaster if people ignore the warnings regarding the virus etc;
If it was me I would take every opportunity to enjoy them daily as the future has never been so unpredictable.
Think thinking too far ahead is not realistic prospect.
In n any case the very best of luck.
Regards. |
