| Never heard of any David.
Cannot realy understsand just where we stand, think they think as all birds can be become victims all birds have to be taken into consideration as carriers.
Cannot remember just what happened the last time the problem arose.
Regards. |

| by what ive read it seems its only fowl, chickens type of birds who have it ........could it possibly be an over reaction to include pigeons in these restrictions ?
although ive not read any official restrictions that actually mention racing pigeons, only updates from the rpra who are saying what fanciers can or cannot do . |

| from what i read is that pigeons can catch it but less likely as they are quite resistant to it in general and very rarely pass it on ...there is conflicting reports so quite contradicting eh |

| yes darren, so it seems its not a major problem to pigeons then, but yet the pigeon fancier is punished again ie shows, racing etc .......should the rpra not be more vocal and stand up for its members ? |

| Having dealt with DEFRA David a few times pigeons are way down their list of what any action they take regarding them may affect our sport.

| Tried to find out the latest David, says all birds must be kept in, but no mention of racing pigeons in particular.
It says the problem has been around since 1878.
Funny but I never heard of it until the last few years.

| Latest update in this weeks BHW.
No shows can be held if an outbreak takes place within 3km or10km survailance zone of a proposed site of the show.
Just needs an outbreak to occur a couple of days before a proposed event and BINGO.
Not a very good situation all round.
Regards. |

| Think scant regard is given to our sport throughout.
The RPRA are a waste of time, should be right on the ball in this situation.
An awful lot of events taking hours of preperation not to mention costs could be lost at the last minute.
Should be in constant contact with DEFRA and inform members accordingly.

| Does not look good at the moment, not forgetting it is the wild birds mainly migratory that will stay here all Winter that are the culprits.
Seems very widespread now so cannot see many areas not being affected, you cannot control wild birds.
What with the virus and the flue not a very good situation all round.
Just have to keep everything crossed.
Regards. |

Had a look round David, no evidence whatsoever that a racing pigeon has had bird flue and scienrists say very unlikely they could catch it, never mind pass it on. Regards. |
