thats what someone said on another pigeon site george, ive never heard anything about that .........no logic to it , why would it be any different from fancier to fancier ...?

if its true and they are doing this its a clear sign they think nothing of the ordinary pigeon fancier and its all about money with them.

i for one would never use them again .

what do they expect someone to do if they dont already have walkers boxes, they wont accept plain boxes ...... luckily ive always got a stack of walkers boxes and plain brown boxes for whichever courier collects .

walkers have become a p*ss take over the last year or so .

Trains were better all round.

Pigeons not subjected to the ills of transport which are many and the reason for many losses.

But then, the sport has gone backwards for years.

Price of fuel, running vehicles, insurances and everything else going on be difficult for anyone to make much money specialising in just delivering pigeons. If you compare to average parcel courier maybe 50 plus drop offs per day to the doorstep I don't know how many pigeon drop offs can be done but don't thing it will be many more than a handful on a good day considering the distances between drops?

Think you are right barnie, no one can run a business at a loss.

More so when they gaurantee next day delivery, what if there is only one pigeon involved and 60 miles.

Time fanciers tried to help each other in many ways.

Regards.

Think if matters of costs keep increasing and less demand there is no way you could run a viable business, the sport is at crossroads in many ways and not seaming going in the right direction.

Vans etc; could be stood idle for days or even weeks.

Really think fanciers could help each other more in many ways.

Regards.

during racing theres over 100 transporters up and down the road, one way to get them nearer home maybe? thats if drivers will take them. more difficult out of season though.

yes I know you found that out first hand george, easy come, easy go. big team fanciers can take the losses but maybe small team guys appreciate getting them home?

Spot on George.

Bet hundreds of those sold by the big boys have been returned in a box.

walkers transport all types of livestock not just pigeons, and all types of goods across the uk and europe ......with pigeons they collect on one certain day per week, which can include many pick ups, and which will be delivered the next day . i presume doing it this way works better for them and minimizes the time they spend transporting pigeons for the maximum profit .

reading walkers website i can see no indication they are not collecting / delivering to or from the ordinary back garden fancier, or that they are only dealing with auction house purchases, so hopefully things should be more or less as normal .
