good morning all i'm hopping after handling the hen from Darren yesterday and seeing her in a nest box the egg in it is from her also some ybs to ring

doing well george, youll soon have a loft full of ybs .......

just rung the single yb to-day will do the other 4 to-morrow

how many ybs you got altogether so far george ...?

5 David and looks like 8 eggs in past few days

coming along nicely george, i dont think im pairing up this year ........

and i don't think i will split mine up next year just leave them and throw away the eggs

ive done that some years george, ive found they stop laying at some point ...... then when the weather changes they start again .

nature probably eh .

i also want to come down to one loft David

ive 3 old lofts still up george im planning on burning them and levelling the ground for grass ... ill just have the 8 x 14 in the garden

yes george, best thing i ever did was have a loft with a corridor ....

best part when you have visitors but i l: don't have any

best thing for me is to keep out of the weather, went over 10 years through winter getting soaked at the other lofts, once you are in this new loft in the corridor your dry and warmer .......

i rarely have visitors either, maybe 1 a year

thats the way i like it .

morning all, painted the staircase and moving on to the bathroom ceiling, walls are tiled thankfully

the shed i ask my son to get me has come in so many sections 7x5 sides front and back 10 sections floor 2 sections roof 2 sections

what's members view on a pair feeding 3 ybs from 10 days old

not for me, although I have heard of 3 being reared without being any different to two in the nest.
I'd be concerned about ending up with 3 poorly reared ybs especially early in the year, less daylight hours for parents to feed, also the hen wouldn't be able to cover them properly overnight when it could end up being bitter cold nights. Depends a lot on parents and how keen they are on babies, some are looking to go back to nest at 14 days. I suppose i'd try it if it was the only option george.
