John you need to have your camra on macro and get someone to hold the birds head and beak and take the photo as close as you can to make clear and not blurd

have been going to try this for a long time but never bothered, as ginger says get someone to hold it for you then get as close as possible to the eye...........alternatively do some cameras zoom in to the object intended to photograph ?

You will enjoy John, as Ken says it's all good fun and you can see other pigeons and compare them with your own at this time of year

On the ubject of eyes, I hhave photgraphed them 100,s of times and the best way is out side in the sun, but you have to have the right camera, or should I say lens. Basically to get the exploded view that is close up you need a macro lens or facility which allows close subjects to remain in focus. So thats what you need first, normal comact camras wont do it as tey cant focus up close, hope this helps.

| Hi
Many Thanks for the reply
I have a 10 megapixel camera and a 35mm macro lens. I have been struggling with the focal length that the photo should be taken with and also with it being so dark now when I get in from work im trying it indoors. I have got off camera flash and also in built flash.
Im struggling on how close with the macro to get the fine detail and also do you need an extra pair of hands or do you have some holding device
