The Draw for young bird exchange

just read it ken, im in agreement anyway......would really make it interesting and also would encourage more to take part if we are able to do it next year as well.

Its just an my idea, some one else might have a better idea

maybe ken, would be interesting to hear any other ideas if someone has one.....its true what you say re new blood coming into the loft without forking out a lot of money, and also more incentive to maybe win with an exchange bird.

not long now lads and we will all be exchanging our young ,uns,so that have bred early will not be far away.lets get some good uns

yes wont belong now still to pair up yet but should be in the next week or so let 2010 start with a good bredding season to all of you best of luck lads and lassies

paired up ray but still waiting for eggs..... altho signs are looking good that they might lay soon.

i know phil, im russhing down every morning to see if they hava laid........ dont usually bother, they lay when they lay....but might be because ive some new stock birds this year and eager to get some ybs from them....

david have taken 24 eggs off stock and floated in widowhood they are all full no fresh eggs iam happy so far so good just waiting for second round now

excellent ian, how many you breeding all together.....?

hopefully 40 - 48 off stock and 10 -20 off selected widowhood

so between 50 - 70........blimy, would take me 5 years to breed that many.....

mine should be laying now as well.been 10 days today

nest boxes, shaving, tobacco stalks, straw, 1 pr laid egg yesterday on pile of straw put on floor in corner for them to take to nests

got my first egg today

snap ray same ere got me first racer egg today ... im normal down the loft on a morring but went to work today and then went to loft to find the egg and the birds where sat tight to bowl ... and how long till the second one is it hours or a day or two

phil, if the hen lays on the tuesday the second is laid on the thursday.......or 1st wed, 2nd fri.......there is one full day inbetween and i count 19 days from the first egg laid till they hatch.

thanxs all for the info .... ive got six bowls filling up with straw and 3 more pairs wich ive had looked up to pair them and then philip got to black racers gifed yesterday ... and they where already paired up so ive put them in a box and locked them up with plenty of straw in the box ...just they never been split all year

thats a big help then phil having the blacks already paired, all they have to do now is take to the box and defend it..............
