| hi david , good luck with the training mate , while i was waiting for my tarbes entry on sat morning i thought sod it and let my yb out it was a beautifull morning they went missing for 1,1/2 hrs when they came back they were all together i think they get more out of that then any training toss can give them i will take mine in a week or two i go take them 12 miles first toss then straight down the coast which is 20odd plus miles ive all ways done that and it works for me with minimal losses . |

| hi kev, took them this morning just 3 miles down the road, this was just to give them a taste of coming out of the basket really........when they got home they did an hour around the house and ranging off, so i`ll let them out again this evening to see how they do.
ive altwered things round now i will be training, usually i only let them out on a morning for their exercise and they go off for a good hour and then fly around the loft and local area for another hour or so........
this week coming i`ll be taking them maybe 5 miles a couple of times and then 10 miles, or do you think i should go straight to 10.....? |

| i told told fit birds not racing range at 10miles around the loft so 3miles wouldnt do nothing but as you say a taster of the basket im take mine to 15miles on the next on they been to 2x7mil tosses |

| david do what u think is best , i all ways take them over ten miles first toss , i think if they go ranging for over an hour then they can cover over 50 miles in that time so i think little chucks don,t do any good but just gives them confidence of coming home , but ive heard about bad tosses from very short chucks so be carefull with your flying so well don,t change a thing . |

| ive found i loose more ybs from 5 mile than at 10 miles........i know it may sound daft but last season when training ybs the only training losses were from 5 miles, ok it may be than the rubbish was lost at this short distance and the best birds were left, but i certainly think that the 5 mile tosses from where i took them didnt do them much good.....possibly it could be that hawks/bops were arounf that area as it is open fields/farmland. |
