Vanity pigeons mate.
Lets face it, this is what makes this sport go good.
It don't take silly amounts of money to breed a winning pigeon.
Us Brits breed a good a pigeon as anyone, but when they go over to Belgium, Holland, Germany. Do we get any credit, do we bollocks.
Why don't we call our pigeon breeds after ourselves.
Do you know why. Vanity.
Nobody wants to buy Dave Smiths pigeons.
What if Dave changed his name to Dave Van Smit.
Well now we may be getting somewhere.
Were as much to blame as anyone for the rising prices of birds.
Just cause they have a foreign sounding name, people will buy them.
It's not surprising new starters crap themselves, when they see what they up against.
There aint no bad pigeons, just fanciers who don't know how to fly them.
Fanciers should start looking more at systems than new birds, the trouble is, us British fanciers get too far set in our ways and don't really like change.

I've seen fanciers do it for years.
They just don't listen, so more fool them.
It's a hard game and if your in it to win. Then it's a bloody hard game.
But we are too soft on our birds.
I treat my birds, my old Mum, treated my Dad. She feeds him, she looks after him. If he didn't bring the bread home. He was out.
