| Mine are have been upped to an ounce and a quarter a day, Half an ounce in the morning and Three quarters in the evening this is just solely because they have now started to work a little harder. Its still all light stuff but to the evening meal they have feed containing green peas and popcorn and roundberry maize. Every ten days they still fast for one evening that's a feed in the morning and then no food until the following morning. This is just my way of clearing them out like a mini detox. Up to now it's working a treat. |

| I'm always trying new things Don, everything is always thought out and then the results documented. I do have a plan or a system, but from time to time I deviate from it, but the birds will tell you if its good or bad. You just have to take notice. |

| That's right Graham, it's a fine balance, under feed um they wont fly long and will hang around the loft, over feed um and they will become lazy and unresponsive. Once you get the balance right, everything will be spot on, they will fly well and respond well. As g said, the weather can seriously affect their appetite very hot weather they will go off their feed somewhat so feeding smaller amounts of small easily digested grains is a must. Paying close attention to them will give you a clue, no bird should ever be allowed to have more than an ounce at any one feed time, when working hard its OK to just up it slightly especially if you feed twice a day.

As a lot say just keep them keen but not to close to the edge think there is a fine balance to find and it depends on the type of racing you want to do as well, i know fanciers who move out the yb team that have been winning for them year after year and use the 2nd section that has been cared for differently. i know how i feel if i train and have nothing in the tank think pigeons are the same |
