| Sitting having my tea and i look out into the garden and a bird lands on the back fence with its back towards me, i took a second glance and realise its a sparrowhawk, it dropped into next doors garden when i got half way down the garden. |

| If Its a male they are blueish grey in coulor as oposed to brown for the female, If its a male then dont worry as I have never heared of a male attaking pigeons as hes 20% smaller than the female and she just about manages to pin them enough. But the members are right it could stick around now you seen one, however sparowhawks although some stay resident in uk all year round they are also rigratory and move around a lot, so it could be just passing through. |

| I have witnessed males striking and killing a pigeon but they can only take them to the ground and cant take them very far whereas the female can carry them away. |

| When I was a BTO bird ringer we often caught male sparrowhawks and I can tell you they are smaller than a blackbird and as lighter, you might have seen a pale female take a pigeon and I dont doupt that a male might attack a pigeon given an easy opurtunity but it would never lift one off the ground. a healthy adult pigeon would be double the wieght of a male... |

| Thebird i saw was bigger than a black bird. the tail was longish and the front of it looked beige in colour the back a light brown |
