| if you get a hand made brick and smash it up with a hammer, the birds love it,after all it is only clay that has been fired |

| you will get them for free,if you look around where an old property has been demolished, look for the thumb prints on one side, that tells you it is hand made, its where the person who made it has pushed the clay into the mould, hope this helps?. |

| the small hand made bricks are quite old, in fact they are worth a bit of money.....modern metric bricks are still made of fired clay, but they arnt soft like the old bricks you speak about.
if you could get the imperial bricks, from houses which were built round about the 1940`s they would be quite soft and arnt that hard to find..... |

| We like to use the old convict bricks out here ;to make them even better put them in the sea & let them soak up the salt water ;the birds just love them ;& they crumble up better also; cheers |

| the old bricks might be ok but modern ones have extra stuff in like plastizers and silicones etc to seal the faces and combat acid rain, so watch what you give your birds. |
