To say Kev is enjoying having me back around, would be an understatement.
he has a list of things to do. I have already made a small section for hens, now it's a trailer for training.
He must think I can perform miracles, he pointed to this old trailer in the front garden and said we can use that.
Me and another mate went to lift it and it crumbled in our hands.
The only good part was the main axle beam and the draw bar.
The wheels were knackered and the tyres were perished.
So out came the grinder and we cut all bad steel angle frame away.
So we put what was left in the trailer and took it to the allotment.
Did a quick sketch, got some measurements then went to my mate at the steel yard.
Told him what i needed and he cut it into manageable lengths, Kev had a shock when i said pay the man, £125 quid later, pmsl his face was a picture. PMSL
Then it time for work, set up a piece of ply so I could make the replacement base frame, then spent and hour and a half getting out the bolts that hold the stubs in place then drilled the holes in the new frame and away I went.
Next it was the frame work for the non release side and the frame for the front.
Kev said we should get some marine ply for the floor, wrong answer, chequer plate or nowt I said. Ever seen a grown man cry. PMSL
After some discussion we agreed on the size and the amount of panniers, 6 @ 3ft X 21 inches X 9 inches.
Then I knocked up a couple of templates for the panniers size and then started to weld in in the rails for the panniers.
After struggling for a day with an old electric Arc, which kept cutting out until it cooled down, I managed to get the loan of a Mig welder from one of me mate, which made life a whole lot easier.
This is where we leave it today, an early start tomorrow, should see the framework finished.
