sent 8 ybs training yesterday to Salisbury on the club trailer about 45 miles and they were liberated at the same time as the pennine valleys race birds in the same location Rolling Eyes that organisation is about 200 miles north of me   ...had 2 from 8 yesterday and another 4 today so 6 from 8 and boy were they tired out they must have flown some miles ...glad their was some rain about so they could get a drink
but that's my plans for racing this weekend down the pan but I think they learnt more in this smash than they would of in a race ...unlikely I will see the other 2 now but ya never know ...lucky to get the 6 to be honest, think I will put them away now until next year ...good luck to any lads and lasses racing this weekend atb

the wee fella (Alfie) came running in the back door about an hour ago saying daddy birdie Laughing yes it was one of our missing ybs with half of his tail missing but surprisingly in good nic Very Happy ...yes david that's end of racing for me now ,these are all distance ybs and they have had enough experience now for their first year about 20 tosses 4 from 45 miles and a race from 65 miles I have 15 now(lost 2) for next year plus 9 old birds ...that's maximum amount for me without overcrowding the trainer was about 3 miles away from the liberation site of the pennine valley birds I am a little annoyed as it don't take long to look in the bhw at the liberations and make a quick phone call but lesson learnt (don't train on Wednesdays) lucky to be just 1 down as its been terrible weather here for them to work back in

Daz for me they have had the best bit of education and they have had to work home using there brains which for me shows the characteristics of the birds capabilities

Richard Boylin who writes in the BHW he never raced youngsters but always let them out on a Saturday with a full tummy to be catches by any fed birds going in any direction which made the birds work hard to get back home but at the end of the season the ones left were the ones with character and the brains needed to get home on there own So Daz they have earned there perch mate leave them to moult ready for next season mate but I know nothing
