| what I have noticed in the 5 ybs so far this year the ybs from the pair I crossed look nothing in size to the other birds I have 5 pairs down on eggs now if they don't match up to the robust ybs I now have I won't cross again what I mean by that when I bought the gabys I should have had 2 pairs not one pair and cross the young from them maybe I went wrong in pairing middle X distance birds together I will soon find out |

| Don. Appreciate your opinions, as the other opinions on here. What the heck is a weak type of eye? Dark rich colour is better than pale, washed out looking eyes? Preference only in the eyes of the beholder. The birds race, is that not what we breed them for? Not colours, feather or eyes. So, if all had breeding 'eyes' and were kept for breeding only no races would be flown! Simplistic, I know but what is between the eyes is the most important part of a pigeon. No matter the colour. JMO. "You may be right, I may be wrong, but you will never convince me of that." as a very good fancier once told me. The athletes of today, human or horses or whatever are never graded as to their potential by eye exams. Just pigeons. This is a good article. http://schaerlaeckens.mikehopman.nl/pages/leesartikel.php?id=603 |

| Its a really interesting read, I really love others opinions on the eyes and could listen to it all day long it fascinates me.
But for all my admiration of AD and after all he was mates with my heros the jansens and wrote an amazing book on them which I was reading just last night, HE IS WRONG.
And Im glad he mentions does a dog, horse or canary have things in the eyes which tell if its a good one, this proves my point again totally ...they all have black eyes which reflect back at you with a torch and the eyes are all the same, where as pigeons eyes are all different like finger prints.
Keep them coming I love it. |

| Many huskies and horses have blue eyes. Dogs can see in colour, or shades of Gray. |

yes hal, some say they can only see in black and white, but that is rubbish.......my dog hates the postman who lives next door, if he has his red top on she goes mental....if he doesn't have the red top on she just barks a little bit. |

| watched a documentary they reckon dogs can see most colours ...eyesign is a theory and just that not been proven or dispelled I like to see a nice eye but it don't boss any decisions with me birds ...john crowder a good racing man with the buschaerts for years said to me his best breeding pair were a pair of blacks with fish eyes |

| 99% of all dogs have the same eyes, albinos red eyes and white mutations such as the huskies have blue, also some horses again white mutations can have whats known as a whale eye which is blue. Its not a passed on gene with colour factor but a recessive mutation and there fore totally not the same as having different coloured eyes. |

| I also think that scientists who say certain animals see in different colours are simply guessing how can we know for certain as they cant speak. |

| If this isn't a breeder of the highest quality I will poke my own eyes out with a stick, its a janssen eye belonging to a pigeon that not only won a ton of races but filled its owners loft with gold, and that man was Raymund hermes.
And I don't have 1 even close to this or ever seen 1 up close like it, and mostly no body else does including old Ad.
Don't think an eye glass would be needed for this one Don.

| the more I read about eyesign, the more confused I become......certain racing eyes that have been posted are crap breeding eyes,(allegedly ) so does this mean a good racer with a racing eye and not a breeding eye will not produce its kind ?
does a pigeon that has a good breeding eye be a good racer, or can crap racers be good breeders....? |
