good looking cock hal what strain is it think the delbars were like that not sure

Should be able to walk in your snow & icey conditions ok .

Halcanada nice looking bird is the pigeon inbreed to the Merckx because of the feathered feet ???

Not my bird unfortunately. From a web site that features birds from Continental breeding station. Jannsen bird. I have the red ones from Tmak..

Going on what iv'e read & studied on the Janssen Base pigeons it was the Red pigeon that the Oldest bro brought back to the loft i believe 1919? carried the Gits blood ; & thats where the feather legs come from ;

my grandfather had gits ...lovely birds ,hard as nails too

I am a big fan of feather feet and have just introduced a few rom a top loft in the area, They are toey van reets 1 a yb he gave me has some and has just bred me a feather leg chequer, but the other is a pied and is covered, I will post a pic.

Oldstrain ;we still have the Gits ours go back to Donkern ; Queen & Ref C they were his older strain before he introduced the Soffles that produced the Feather legs thats around 1900 for memory ;Ours were imported in the 1890s from T W Thorugood from Sefton near Liverpool through his 26a etc which came from gits ;cheers

I will have a stab O/S & even put my reputation on the line "What ever that is" here & say it wasn't a head wind. Great to read these tales from the distant past etc & one can only admire the birds of that time & the owners that took up those type of challenges, in the early days.

A bit of backloading O/S after dropping off another load of pigeon sh**e here I suspect. Now, I'm not quite as old as K 1900 era here, but I will throw a few on board, for the little  which I've had since around 1972 & I will garuantee you would be embarrassed to put them in a basket on basket night etc with there feathers .

A hell of a lot tougher than the the ones that fly in now, here in air conditioned comfort I suspect K. XXX. My thoughts go back to the 19 hen mentioned by Hal & the travel conditions they all had to bare to get home from 500 odd miles around the time you were born .
