| Like a lot of fanciers, my new young bird has sliding doors (inner and outer).
The inner sliding doors are made in such a way that the bottom part is ply and the top part is dowling. Some of my young birds have started flying up onto the top of the ply bit and looking through the bars.
I am worried that they will damage their tail feathers or wing feathers. Am I right to be worried, and what can I do to stop them doing it?
Advice please.

| they will be ok mate, but idealy the dowel want to be down to floor level on the inside sections, as you are defeating the object of air flow. hope this helps |

| hi phil, like edgie says, I wouldn't worry too much about it, once they are in and out of the loft exercising regular I doubt they will be doing it.......also how about adding a small shelf/perch where the dowel meets the ply so at least they will stand on it, rather than risk damaging the feathers. |

Hi David, I can't do that because the outer door s the one they are flying up onto and it slides in front to the other door. But I think you both have put my mind at ease. Thanks |

| ah right phil, if they persist and do actually damage their feathers how about some small wire on the inside...? but then again that still would probably damage the feathers...... |

but then again that still would probably damage the feathers...... I think wire would be more detrimental to the birds feathers. I will have to work something out, OR just wait and see how things go on. Cheers anyway. Phil |

Oh yes David - how I miss those kettles and a gas oven - we have a lecky oven but gas hobs - I always find gas much more "turn On and Off-able" (if anyone remembers the old advert) Have a good one. Phil |
