| be careful of burnout!!! i would rather the birds be flying round the loft and bouncing up and down at this time of year, they will get bored & fed up with all the early training in the cold winds i have seen many fanciers start the season with a bang then never hear their name again till 1st yb racesbirds will get race fit around home, they just need the memorys jogging and sharpening before racing JMO |

| Ian be careful with the cold winds, this can really mess the yearlings up and prevent them getting into form,
If it was me i would work the older cocks and save the yearlings till the sun is on there backs and the temperature rises |

| judging by the ybs ive reared over the last couple of years id say that even tho they have been "fit" flying round home or ranging.........they have never been "race fit" because the exercise has not been stepped up a gear by training and racing........ |

| Also i would have the flag out for 1/2 hour and then let the cocks drop and play for 1/2 hour coming in and out of the loft and work them that way as making them have 1 hour this early in the cold conditions is a bit hard for me As the temperature rises them increase the flags upto the 1 hour mark but the one thing i would say is if you give your birds 1 hour morning and night come thursday night they have done 8 hours on the wing, but if you send the 30 miles each day 2 times that is only 4 hours on the wing just something to think about |

| When pigeon am right for the job, the cocks will be full of life and when let out they will climb high into the sky and will race out of site for about 10 to 15 mins and then show themselves, clap round the loft then race of again in different directions
That to me shows the cocks coming into form and fit for racing |
