| Our fed is a new 1 and now we are starting our young bird racing its not very good for me. Young birds were basketed last sat for sun race. They were then put in a barn for the night taken to race point early morning lib at 11 o'clock don't know how things turned out but they are going to do same this week . I personally don't think it is a good idea as they are not resting properly and probably won't get enough time to get a drink before they are let go. Next week they are going on the transporter as normal but they will be at the 150 mile stage for me as I am the back marker in the club and fed . Don't think I will bother this week if at all . Your coments please |

| the idea of sunday racing instead of Saturdays isn't that bad, may even be better.....but personally I don't like the idea of them kept in a barn over night, plus I would be concerned about them having access to a decent drink before the journey home. |

| our fed did the same with old birds basket up evening before left on the wagon for driver to go to race point in the morning ...i dont think it bodes well better they drive to liberation point and rest their instead of on someones drive or in a barn for the night ...our club is racing sundays too dont really see a problem with that |

| Been a while. Anyway, 1st 2 races this weekend. !st release is 150 miles. 2nd release 105. YB's trained to 30 miles 3 times. Plus a few shorter earlier. Mine will go to the 150. 105 is too short. Hundreds of poorly trained birds milling around. Need front runners, thinkers. Will send 25. Half of them. Need 8 pairs for next year so have to discriminate. Old Benzing clock. Rubbers. Club does not allow Electronic. Races are won in split seconds. Electronic is far superior to any thing else. Extension cord to the loft and it is simple. The 30 mile tosses for young birds. They would return very high up and keep going. Return 30 or 40 minutes later. Then still fly around. Guess they are ready. No meds, 11% protein diet. Cheap stuff. Each to their own.

| I would say if the youngsters have been schooled well and singled up at 50 to 60 miles you can jump them |

Maybe, they are basketing the night before, putting the birds in a barn or left on the truck - THEN, on Sunday morning, they are driven to race point - simply because the drivers want to spend the night in their own beds, instead of having to sleep in the truck. Once again - thinking about the man and not the pigeons! I don't see the problem with Sunday racing, but I do not agree with:- 1. leaving birds in barns overnight. 2. Driving the birds to the liberation point in the morning of the race - whether they are given time to drink or not. But of course, they should be given ample time to drink. It would be MUCH better to drive the pigeons to the lib' point, the night before, let them have a good rest and time to drink. Then in the morning, let them go - 'simples'! Is the primary concern of these clubs Pigeons or man? They are supposed to be PIGEON organisations, maybe they should be thinking more about the welfare of our birds. Phil

Phil On the whole Phil I could not have said it better myself etc . I would make the driver/jockey sleep rough at the race point for the enjoyment factor because at the end of the day, they are a servant supplying a service as such from my perspective & should not have rites over & above the pigeons concerned, unless it becomes a safety issue type thing for them on the day. |

| that's what it seems to be now, the convoyer/driver comes first before the welfare of the birds, they want to spend as little time as possible so the pigeons tend to come second place.....
in quite a few cases, obviously not all....we hear of some very good conyoyers . |

Phil well said phil its exactly the reason i left my south road fed and returned to north road racing the convoyer was calling the shots ...been some bad liberations and rushed ones no doubt about that |
