| I thought this act which protected the bops etc was brought about by being a member of the EU, so if we are not in the EU, that means the law is worthless, and we can protect our pigeons. |

The Raptor Alliance is NOT a waste of time. I was talking to the Reddings yesterday on this very subject. They are doing all they can in conjunction with ALL the homing unions to get things passed in LAW - to try and cut down the amount of hawks there will be. If you want to support The Raptor Alliance - you can send donations to the RPRA at the Reddings, Cheltenham, Glos (marked donation to Raptor Alliance) and they will be very happy to put your money to good use. However, Steve - I take your point - we ALL have to do what we can to get rid of these pesky varmints by any means at our disposal! What the pro-hawk people do not seem to understand, is that raptors do NOT discriminate between scrags from the local factories and our top racing pigeon, sometimes worth HUNDREDS of pounds/Euros/Dollars. It is all fair and good for the pro-hawk people to say that it is all about conservation - but what about conserving OUR racing pigeons, which in some cases mean as much to us as our children and they certainly would not suggest giving children to hawks. Back to you guys. A very peeed off Phil Not peed off at anyone on this forum - but at the situation! Why can't the RSPB see our side of things. |

| Just rememberd I read on a r.s.p.b. site only recently that if the food supply is good you will find a pair of sparrow hawks every 1 and a half square miles .this is probably why they are a pest to the pigeon fancier.as they have eaten there larder almost to extinction. |

What you say, is all good, but you can't be in all the places we have trouble with raptors all the time. Maybe if you live out in the country, you have a chance at getting rid of a few - and REALLY good luck with that. But a lot of pigeon fanciers, live in built-up areas, and I am sure Mr police-man badger would love you, for shooting your big gun at hawks up and down the street of England. Sorry, Steve - your argument just doesn't stand up. Maybe, if you could get the law changed, were we could all go around with rifles and shot guns killing raptors, then I will be one of the first to join you with my Holland & Holland. Cheers for now Phil p.s. ONE L in Phil |
