phil, I hear a lot do float eggs and have no problems....but I only ever floated eggs once a couple of years ago and wasn't happy with the ybs they reared, if this was a one off I don't know, but I wont be in a hurray to float eggs in future....... No No
Cheers for that David.

My thinking behind floating eggs from my stock birds to the birds I bred this year is:-

All the y/bs I bred this year have been trained a LOT by car, I have lost a few (as normally happens) - but not one of them has been raced - so I don't know how good or not they are.

Should  I be breeding from Un-tried (Un-raced) birds?

What do you think.

Phil

just pair both teams up at the same time float eggs under racers from stock write down all laying dates for each pair and float eggs to race pairs that have layed 2/3 days of laying date of stock  pairs the ybs need the parents crop milk and its nutrients , and bacteria also enhances the squabs immune system which they only produce for up to 7to10 days if you float the eggs before they are 10 days old all should be well
