| Just had my new pH water tester arrive today so I will be able to check on the pH level of the drinking water for the birds should be around 4.5 hope it will help keep them healthy and the droppings should be firmer hopefully |

| I breed Betta Splendens and have many PH testers. PH should be 4.5 to 6.5 but have bred them in much higher ranges. Just never use them anymore. For pigeons? Do not see the point. Teaspoon of lemon juice or vinegar will drop the PH. |

That's weird Hal, we used to breed discus, test meters all over the place Mark, if I'm right I m sure you get water from Wales, if so the ph is either neutral or slightly acid, if you leave the water stand and airate with an air stone and pump it will gas off all the additives in the water and naturally lower the ph, the problem I had when breeding discus was keeping the ph above 4.5 |

Water is measured as acidic or alkaline (ph hardness) with a neutral in the centre, neutral is 7 on the scale, anything above that is alkaline or hard water , below that is acidic or soft water |

I can remember the ici plant in the west country in mid 90's getting a ticking off for acid rain ,it had damaged the paint work of cars for miles around and no doubt the health of thousands ...who knows what really goes on and what gets released into our atmosphere |

| Only time I leave water over night is when I put garlic in the water. Must try to get the water to 4.5 pH and see I the birds are any healthier |
