This weekend racing - weekend 22 - 23 April

I hope by now most of us have got the 2017 season underway. Except maybe for our non-European members.

We are hoping for even better things this coming weekend. We are at Cholet which is 130 miles to us. I remember probably our last race from Cholet when we still lived in the UK. I can't really remember but I think it was about 340 miles to us in Stroud, Gloucestershire. I remember it really well because at that time we were flying open door and our first bird had been in the loft at least a couple of minutes when I noticed it! We were 4th Fed that day. Goodness knows what we would have been if I had seen the bird come in when it did.

Looking forward to some great racing this weekend. As long as we get full returns again and a half decent position, I shall be happy.

Same, same    . Being out of the loop Phil is Cholet etc north, south or east from your little plot there & also I never thought much of any value come out of froggy land as such  but slowly I'm beginning to change my mind now .

Here is a map of the North West part of France.  The black dot is where we are and Cholet is in the bottom right hand corner.

It is about 120-130 miles as the pigeon flies from Cholet to us.  We have been given a distance of 210.5 k from the French equivalent of the RPRA.

Next week, we have quite a jump - 425 kilometres.

It is a lovely sunny day here with very light wind and no clouds.  Should be a good race.

We have just returned from basketing our 10 birds for Cholet.

The weather is supposed to be excellent tomorrow. Cold start like the last few days, but getting warmer quite quickly.

They might have a good wind up their bums - so it might be a fast one.

I estimated the flying time to be around 3 hours 25 mins, but it could be a bit quicker than that.

Good stuff Phil "thank's"     I will have a wee chat with my mate above thou about arranging a North wester there "strong" with rain just so you can play the waiting game a bit longer as such & get more value for your money next week with your champs.

The wind - I wouldn't mind - but the rain, you can keep it to yourself - you probably need it more than I do anyway.

Our birds were up from Cholet at 08:30 hours in good weather, clear skies, light wind on their right shoulder.

We have all our birds back bar one. But I am sure it will turn up soon.

Unfortunately, we have no idea how anyone else has got on, but we have had a good-ish bird we think.

Birds had a slight head wind on their right shoulder all the way home.

Our first bird was doing 1344.39 metres per minute, which is 1470.24 yards per minute OR
50.12 miles per hour. Our second bird was a couple of minutes behind it. Um, I like all this maths!

Let's see - more news to follow.

Our last bird returned about an hour ago - so 100% returns again.

Now let's see how we do when it come to clocking time.
