Eye change breeding

I read somewhere that a pigeon is not fertile until the eyes change from black to red. Is this a broadly correct belief? I noticed that only about half of my white birds have red eyes. They are about six months old. Just curious on your thoughts.

unless its a youngbird not mature enough to mate...a few weeks old..

rom, a lot of white birds or pieds have what is called a bull eye, this looks just black to the naked human eye.

Thought of Rom with his whites etc David . Be interesting if he had put them up for judging & how the judges may/would have judged them as such .

with the right magnification and light, they say you can look through the bull eye and see it like a normal pigeon eye, but I don't know, one pigeon eye looks pretty much like another

I didn't know that some of them maybe won't have red eyes. I know some tipplers have a white eye. It might take me the rest of my life to sort out fact from fiction

Best thing to do ROM is keep selecting the ones you like each year and race and breed from them the basket will be the pedigree here or you will get swomped down with theories
