Just filling in time !!!.

Roosters still asleep here So just thought I would have a moan about certain tradesman types & their quality of work as such. 40 odd years ago here I employed a Tradie type 'Plumber/cheap" to build storage bins for my grain etc "30 odd bags" in my man shed under my house here. Absolute rubbish job I'm he did at the time it appears as I now have to rebuild them sadly as rain water got into them with a recent flood type moment we had here. Spoke to him about a rebuild not much enthusiasm thou forth coming as he is using the old age trick now as an excuse for fixing his shoddy work from the past as such . So as I said just filling in time here so to speak.

Surely you mean 40 Months and not years, Knackered.

Any plumber here would laugh their heads off if you complained after 40 years, and would ask for a bonus for their work lasting so long.


Hope you get it sorted, if the new job lastv40 years ??????.

Not interested with the life time scenario etc Barnie when discussing the rebuild as such with his shoddy work manship. Even thought if I told him at best my new bins only have to last 2/3 years at best for me     he was still making excuses about the effort involved & the cost factor from his end .

Not this little plumber etc Misty always believed in doing things right the first time as such when on  the tools as such as I took pride in my craft. These days sadly all they need now I've found is a tin of glue & a silicone gun to solve all the problems what ever it may be in the trade nearly. True story about one of the big local plumber types here, who has a special crew, going round full time fixing up the **** ups by the other plumbers he employs there. Myself I would have sacked the lot of them that didn't cut the mustard for him on the tools as they have no pride in what they do type of thing on average & the customer deserves better for what they pay with their hard earned money from my end here. Final note     around at a mate of the little fat blokes here once talking waffle as pigeon flyers do     & I mentioned the down pipes on the 2 story house over the road there       put in by a plumber type I suspect but they were 6 inches out of where the should have been at the bottom to the top    . Had thoughts at the time, he must have been a one eyed Bristol maybe           the plumber that put them all in on the house     as such, the job was that disgraceful from my end    .  

All plastic pipes and fittings now...

Kackered, it is not only plumbing that has it's problems here.


Some new housing estate homes have triple figure complaints about poor workmanship in many dwellings and those responsible are very reluctant to do anything about it, too busy building other such properties.


Once an apprenticeship was 7 years, now ten minutes, a reflection of the type of workmanship of today.


The answer of course is to go back to living in caves, sound and reliable.

our building standards have been in decline for years, partly due to cheap materials being used, and partly due to poor, un qualified foreign workers , bringing their trades here, workers who have not gone through the same training as uk workers.

I did a 5 year apprentiship, going to building collage and working on site, now they go on a 3 month course and get a certificate, which is totally worthless.

years ago sons would follow fathers into a trade, now there are no proper apprentiships and very few proper jobs in industries such as building, steel, mining, cars etc etc.

ive seen brickwork done by imigrants into the uk, and its something like a 5 year old would do, but yet they are being employed because they are cheap.

David, when I worked for Wimpy, I attended as rep a meeting of the Apprentice Training Programme, forgot the actual name, where companies were given grants towards the cost of training apprentices which included technical and practical abilities.


I know Wimpy were well involved and some very good tradesmen emerged.



But the actual reps at the meeting were a set of ??????? and I refused to go to any other meetings.
