Due to the fact no shows which we often attend i think we will pair up earlier than normal.  We normally wait till after Blackpool incase as often we buy something.  So with nothing going on i think I will pair up to see if these early ybs will make a difference...

Have paired Xmas day. As you know, weather not suitable to let them out until couple months later. So when weaned go in to this loft. Hens there now. They get to know the surroundings and watch the ferals and raptors etc,. Strong on the wing when they do go out. Lose 1 maybe. Has worked for me for years. But no longer racing so will not mate for quite a while.Pairing up earlier 000_1628

For all round good health breed as the woodies breed.

Be a mistake to breed too many either early or otherwise too many possible scenarios with the virus problem.

Just hope we get through the Winter unscathed.

Regards.

Thats a point yes . I might end up 100 unraced ybs but we thought that this season didn't we . So really you have to carry on as normal I suppose.  Hopefully things will get better but sorry I personally think not yet for a long time

Always will have those types etc I suggest Misty Smile Smile knocking on the door, in an agitated state bounce bounce requiring rings on the first day they are issued as such. Rings come out here on the first of July each year. The ones that are clued in thou  Wink  Wink don't bother picking their ring issue up till around October I've found on average, when the weather circle is far better for breeding here. cheers

ive yet to make the final decision on if im racing ybs next season, if i dont race i may well resign from the club as theres no point staying in if im never going to race .......anyway, if i do race ybs i think i will leave them natural, ive tried dark a couple of times and they just will not exercise around the loft, so dark isnt for me any more.........natural is the way i will go .

The darkness brings the youngsters forward and sexually active that's the reason for not training round home

Darkness youngsters need working hard "Basket Home Basket Home" then bring them together study study

Yep, oldstrain Breeding to me was one of the best parts of the sport, winners for me and for others, the latter as good as the former in terms of enjoyment.

No one can breed all winners but it is a pleasure trying.

Regards.

Nothing better than breeding a winner yourself to be honest   especially a fed topper or section winner . Just as good buying in as well and they win

I used to always - nigh unless had a pair that wouldn't split - left them together.
Felt less stress and a better moult etc.
Never got later eggs. I found that march was the time they started to renew a nest circle.

Being a great believer in 'Out cast' the pigeons, I did sometimes separate late January if was moult well over.

Being of the opinion that any and all races are won vis 'Protecting' their territory, I would let the Cock birds choose their nest boxes. Of course those going to be with a different hen bird. the cock birds in same box would be shut in if any hassle to the other decided on another box.
Got so pairing was easier as time went on. Just the odd squabble. But then, found sometime I would put the Hen in the nest box to be her nest box.
