| what yb feed did or do members use when the temperature rises as these protein heavy mixes seem to be a culprit with the ybs holding corn |

| Think the whole feeding lark is a load of rubbish.
Fed the same feed every day of the year.
Always food available.
If from birth they know food is always available they will only eat when they know they need it.
Of course for long races you use your common sense and give t*t bits to certain individuals but I found it only necessary for over 400 miles.
I think my pigeons would fly on open loft over 300 miles a day always some in the sky others up and down from ground to loft all day, in the summer maybe out for 18 hours.
The thing is they were open loft all year round choose what the weather was.
I know many cannot do the open loft scenario but think commercialism has gone too far in every respect and ruined the sport as my old late friend Mike on his Hill and I said it would in the 70s. Numerous times in the BHW and RP.
Regards. |

| always fed ybs a lightish mixture, something like gerry plus .....as darren says, i feel safer feeding light so they can digest it easier ( i think), plus i didnt feed too late in the evening, |

| Horse beans were used via very many with great results. Never feed too light, takes good from them. Light feed after Linseed before a heavier feed after races. Canary seed or such given once a week - light feed - is a great conditioner. I tend to very much agree with Misty, this assortment of feeding is most to appeas the pockets of the sellers I believe.
Farm food is welll best at that. |

| because ive not raced for years, i tend to feed on a cheap all round or racing / breeding mix all year round, this season i found it to be very different from bag to bag, it wasnt a consistant mix .........some bags had loads of maize in it which was being left, so i had to mix bags together to even the mix out, then i bought a better brand with a more even mixture, smaller bags and a few quid more, but glad i did . |

Unfortunately same here re: farm corn Darren, it's always just heaped up in the corner of a barn open to all types of vermin contamination. I don't know who buys it? Wouldn't feed chickens with it but pigeon lads give it a wide berth. £5 a bag of scabby wheat from farm or £6 for clean and full bodied stuff with a picture of a pigeon on the bag from merchants; no brainer for me. It's a pity because if a farm got it's act together and supplied suitable clean feeds looked after properly then they might do ok but still find it difficult to compete with merchants to be honest. |

| The two - Sorry three farm food I've used, have been absolutely brilliant. Cooks at Leicester, Bourne and Brington. Alll well bagged and ALL will put through a 'Cleanser if asked to. Prices to suit too. |
