Stock laying

last year had 4 ybs did not grow but did look ok but handled thin could that have been lack of water they were fine when weaned

yes could well have been george, water is the main thing they need i reckon.......

ive also noticed if the parents have water in their nest box they tend to feed their ybs better .

have never put food or water in the nest or dip there beaks in water when weaned

i always do george, even if you dont feed in the box i would always dip their beaks in the drinker when weaned, some of them are slower to learn so in that time they could start going backwards .......and once going backwards they rarely recover in my experience anyway .

forgot to say, went in loft this morning and one egg has been laid ........only paired up saturday afternoon so i cant see the egg hatching, it cant be fertile surely.

i reckon the hen was going to lay anyway when they were separated .

noticed yesterday morning when i went to feed up, they only been together since saturday afternoon, so thats 5 days .......

just waiting on this cock choosing a new hen one that has been raced

Expect the unexpected there etc David maybe Seen the odd strange event here occur at times in the hatching department, around the 5 day mark as such.
