Which 40 birds are you referring to George ?. The ones I am more interest in are the over 100 a fancier entered in a OL. Looking at world matters, many countries are experiencing freak weather and other abnormal events, they could be affecting our pigeons but one would think if they were they would also be doing the same to all wildlife. Tis a real inigma. Regards. |

Cannot recall this George. On another note. Can remember saying house martins built a nest and reared young on the next door neighbours house for several years but did not turn up this year. Just read in the Daily Mail the same thing has happened to another person whose martins have bred there for many years just not turned up this year. Strange. Regards. |

| Things warming up world wide, Israel at it again, only needs Iran to get involved and Bingo.
Cannot honestly see any way a realistic world peace can ever be acheived
Best to make hay when the sun shines.
After seeing the latest regarding the weather changes etc; me thinks our pigeons may be being adversely affected in their orientation abilities.
We also have no idea what the scientist lunatics are up to.
OH HAPPY DAYS

Yes not been very good weather, better wait rather than throwing them away.
The one I am interested in most is the Zajel Oman one.
Has 2,219 entries and 111 fanciers, but one fancier has entered 108 pigeons ?.
Will be interesting to see what happens.
Regards. |

Impossible for anyone to give every pigeon a fair chance George. Idiotic idea. Far better to have say 500 and if all they are worried about is prize money just make entrance fees high and limit to only one pigeon per fancier. America always goes over the top with everything. Regards. |

| Just been watching a OL Final.
Derby Luz Verano Costa de la Luz.
Do not know how many they started with but had 427 in the final from 485km.
Up early this morning so far 34 back.
Cannot see ,any more back today.
Appears something sadly amiss with all OLs.
Just found out, 171 fanciers involved and 1446 pigeons.
So over a thousand pigeons lost before the final ???????.
Regards. |

| By gum George I like the second pigeon, just my sort.
You do not want to end up with too many pigeons George, you will not be able to test the youngsters and they will become a liability.
Regards.

So if you pair them all up and no point in keeping them if you do not, and have two rounds off each ie 48 young birds you need to consider what you can do with them. OLs just a plain gamble they do not reflect the quality of all the youngsters, unknown problems can be the reason for better youngsters being lost than those that survive etc; Would be nice if oldstrain's friend tested a few but you could not expect him to try out many. David has done well selling on the internet but those now offering kits of youngsters off top breeder are not getting bids. Likewise many old birds and many proven breeders are not getting bids. Thing is if you enjoy what you are doing George that is all that matters but I have found having something to aim for helps a lot. Regards. |

Good luck choose what you decide George. Seems a shame not to breed off the others though. On another note, the OL I have followed and who lost over 1100 and ended up with 427 for the final yesterday has 158 back. I think just the normal ordinary fancier with just reasonable pigeons may not win but would expect far higher returns. Something amiss, all OLs appear to suffer the same. Regards. |

Pathetic George, some fanciers keep that many pigeons reasonably healthy even if they have to use a lot of junk to do so. But from the pictures you showed earlier there is no wonder there were so many lost. Regards. |
