hi ian , yes i only fly in the NFC no club racing they get trained up by me up to 60 miles then straight in the first NFC race what will be 204 miles to me fourgers and the lonest race will be tarbes 580 miles its a tough race programe for them but what your left with is only the best and some times you suffer big losses and it seem like you taking one step forward and two steps back since 2004 ive been in the top 10 in section D 4 times that covers all cornwall and devon and part of somerset up to bridgewater my higest section position was 4th from saintes getting 266 in the open .

ive heard of some top flyers racing them natural for the distance and doing very well.....so i suppose if you do it right ie method/management etc they can be just as good or sometimes better as those flown widowhood

one time people would race distance races on widowhood only natural,i think widowhood is ok up to maybe 400 and odd,but the extreme distance natural, epecially bad forcasts

as far as i know natural is all about getting them in the right condition at the right time, ie eggs chipping or ybs at so many days old........or even maybe a cock driving a hen to nest maybe ???

natural birds for the channel where paired up a lot later than the widowhood ones ian, when i raced the distance races mine where on eggs or a big young un and it did,nt take too much out of them as they where not raced as hard as we do today, just a few races then a middle distance race then they were ready

its amazing how easy you can get your natural birds in condition, plus you can not beat keen hens or a cock sitting eggs and feeding a big young un.when i was 12th out of bouges cock was like that
