| Hi, Having undergone a nightmare of trying to register on the site I have now been accepted. My name is Malcolm Moore, known as CHANCO to many. I am 71 years old and have just got back into pigeons after a lay off of some 20 years. In actual fact I got back into breeding and keeping birds last year but owing to the discovery of the 'dreaded C' in my stomach I had to delay my restart once again. I am now getting back to normal after my operation and have started a long course of Chemo. which I hope will not prevent me from racing my YBs this coming deason. I have been involved with racing pigeons for over 60 years now but find that you learn something fresh about them everyday. My motto is: YOU CAN BUY THE PIGEON BUT NOT THE MAN. I will be flying Marriots and Kenyons also some Hansennes.
Chanco. |

Hi Dave and Littelhen, Got my Ybs down to Chapeltown (Sheffield) today. Although it was very sunny they took a long time to clear, I beat them home by10 mins but I dont know why. It was a nose-ender this morning so they may have played about abit before facing up to it. Got em all back. Littlehen. I would get them down the road as soon as you can and for as many tosses as you can, dont believe in waiting for the start of racing to train. I have always felt that as soon as they range then training begins. Malcolm (Chanco) |

| malcolm, will you keep them at sheffield for a while until they beat you home, or do you think it was not far enough for them.....local fancier in the next street to me took his for the first toss yesterday to rothwell sports centre and he said half of them were home when he got back but the others had gone off and took ages to get home, did they go ranging because it was not far enough? |

Hi David, I will keep mine at 30 mile now thats far enough, however if I have enough time I will also get them to about 15 mile West, East and then North. Next week I start Dusk training and I want to get them down to 20 miles at least where they will stay for about 5 tosses. So far everything is going well with the training (fingers crossed). Most of them are paired up now and they are looking and sitting in the bowls, I am hoping that they will lay this week then I can get them on pots for a week or two then I can get them down on eggs again in time for racing, as you can see it's a delicate balance. I think your mate in the next street had his birds split up by another team that were flying out. This is always a danger but I like that to happen because it teaches them a few lessons. However, as I always bang on about, if your taking them training ALWAYS do it AFTER you excercised them at home first. Malcolm. |

| thanks malcolm, yes good point ill tell him to exercise first before training...i think he will be letting them go with the club training soon.
one piont i would like to ask malcolm is one we have discussed a while ago and that is training either side of the line of flight....by what you have said you practice this method, can you tell me why you think it is important to teach this and do you train 15 in all directions or either side of the line of flight... |
