The final bird will be a daughter of Curtis, wall, lunt & Green's pigeon named 'Grey Gem' providing we can agree on the price |

| always been a fascinating topic this, what do you pair to get a real quality racer? best to best is always banded about, and to be honest sounds the right way to go, but we have over the years had soon outstanding racers who have won out of turn but could not breed a stump!! literally after 3/4 yrs trying (nothing) and then again you have had that yearling which didnt do anything special as a youngster but you like the look of him/her and BANG....first nest 2 x winners wonderful/challenging hobby this of ours |

| hard question, to be honest i go on my own personal choice, ie just that gut feeling that you would like to try some youngsters of this cock with that hen, dont know why but just do (if that makes sense) then size - big male little hen to try to keep them as medium as possible. then family - try and keep certain birds in the perentage on both sides then eye - a really strong eye with a lesser eye again to try and get the happy medium of a dual purpose eye which can both race & breed then colour - the tale of two differing eyes colours As they say "opposites attract" |

| hi lightening, i agree with you re big cock little hen etc....i seem to have some fairly big hens which to be honest dont seem to breed nice ybs, i prefer a slightly smaller hen (the best ybs i bred for someone else where off a small hen) last year i based my pairings on oposite colour eyes and dark to light eyes but they produced worse ybs than the ones i didnt pair by this method......what do you think of pairing a pearl eye to a pearl eye ? |

| to be honest dont think it matters (look at the old janssen birds, majority had the white eyes) and it didnt stop them from founding probably the most sucessful family to date
imo as long as one is a strong eye and the other a lesser colours dont really come into it |

| hi mark, when you say strong and weak eye, what do you interperate as either.......when i pair i do as you do and pair a weaker eye to a stronger eye but how i term strong and weak is by the iris, im not too bothered about anything else.....its just my way of doing it and it might not suit everyone but like i say the iris to me is more inportant for breeding than the 2nd circle..... |

| mark, ive been interested in eyes since we raced years ago and at the time i read everything i could about it and was convinced it was for real......now i just follow my own thoughts on it because all these so called experts say the same thing and spout a lot of meaningless rubbish. all they do is describe what they see parrot fashion but rarely commit themselves and pradict how the bird will perform.....im not saying the odd few dont get results but it makes you wonder if it is actually down to eyesign and if they would have won anyway... |
