what are the upto date winning distance familys these days thanks in advance lads steve I think most so called strains are Hybrids nowadays, rather than get hooked up on what strain are the best distance birds I would just look for a fancier who is winning at the distance you want to race at. 500 miles or 600 miles or further. Joseph "Van" Dorning flies a Great distance bird and he has his own strain. If I were starting out and wanting to specialise at the distance I would certainly check him out. http://www.josephvandorningpigeons.com/ |

A pedigree can be an advantage in such circumstances. What is no use is a pedigree of a bird thats anscesters have never won a National race or even its grand parents as once you get 3 or more generations away from the champions the pedigeree is bog roll. And if you are buying new long distance stock to be a serious flyer and to save time getting to the top then you should buy young from either National race champions or the parents of national race champions. Or the parents of the champions or the champions themselves but they will be expensive if for sale at all. |
