our yb racing starts this saturday comming, training has gone well and no losses so far.......they are at 25 miles now and later this week they were to have a 35 - 40 mile trainer ready for newark on saturday...........noticed today a couple hunched up on the perch but droppings seem ok and not water (yet) have started treatment of antibiotics so im wondering if i can train the ones who are not effected and still race them saturday........? will the antibiotics hinder their training/flying ?

Very Happy Hi David, same things happened to me mate, birds trained ok no sick birds then first race over and a few looked a bit down, but I kept the ones who looked ok going and all ok. Now after a few days rest, baths and a bit less food all ok again now, this is what happens to a few birds who cant handle the stress. But as long as they are ok within about 4 days keep them going then after. If after 4 days they are the same as I train them regardless and if they are lost then good ridence to them as birds like that I can do without, If they cant take the pressure they are no good.

given them another dose of nyfuramycin today, plus no food for the day...........all grit is removed and bought some good mulitvit/electrolytes/probiotic compined for when they have completed the course of antibiotics..........hope it works.

5ml (teaspoon) to 2.5 litres of water darren, im not sure if it is yb sickness because the droppings are not watery and look pretty normal, but even so i thought the nyfuramycin should cure most things........ scratch

yes thats the correct ratio as far as im aware nifuramycin is for bacterial infections and have been advised to use it for 7 days have your birds been out since the start of treatment

they dont seem any worse, but there isnt any major improvement yet..............they are hunched on the perch but im a bit confused because the droppings arnt watery and they arnt being sick, but theres definately something wrong with them and i would have thought the nyf would have sorted it out......
