| steve ,only my opinion but i would,nt let them have 3 sets of eggs in a row before you let them have their own young uns ,i would let them bring up the third round if i was you,the chances are the hen will lay while bring the young up anyway.just be careful |

Paired up 8th December, all laid up pretty well and let stock sit for 8/10 days before floating eggs, 95% of first round youngsters in pans now (just 3 pr which laid approx 5 days behind others, these 3 pr should be chipping at weekend) |

wouldnt emagine it would make any difference steve, they dont actually incubate the first egg properly anyway do they, its only when they have laid the second eg that full incubation starts..... |

its only personal preference, some will say that i wasted a week? but i do it to let the hen briefly recover and the cock not to drive his flesh off (then get bored and give up) Mark |

i have done 2 days before (ie the 1st egg of the ones you are keeping was laid 2 days before other) and upto 3 days after (ie the 1st egg of the ones you are keeping was laid 3 days after other, but i wouldnt recommend this under a yearling pair an older hen will sit that little bit longer) |
