| A few days it would be dead mate, or so severely dehydrated it may not come round to any rehydration attempt. |

| When I used to work for stena line on the ferrys I had to go on survival at sea courses, and we learned a lot about how long you can live for at sea stranded...Its a bit shocking
As an ADULT without water depending on weather conditions because you sweat more in hot weather would be incapable of movement like walking in the heat after 48hours, within 72 hours you would be dead. doesnt seem a lot but its a fact, we really dont know how much water we consume each day to stay healthy, you organs shut down very quick indeed.
On the other hand an average adult with plenty of water and no food at all would live for 6 months and fater people even longer providing you arent stuck in really cold conditions., but if there was some kind of food even grass to eat you would live indefinetly depending what type of food was available. So I have no reason to think pigeons arent the same 24 hours without water in a panier then flying home could prove too much for some pigeons. |

Martyn read an artical about the top irish fancier Alan Durragh when he stops racing he sperates his birds and then he will lock the loft up for 3 days no food or water this method is used to prevent worms But everyone to there own mate |

| Im afraid its my down fall with pigeons I like them too much and I respect the birds for what they do and put up with, wheras others see them as a tool for thier own egos and winning comes before the well being of the birds..NOT ME ...I always put the family first pigeons second, if my son has a mx race the pigeons dont race. Extreeme measures are for extreem people. |

| Well I seem to remember from my distant past that hunger strikers live with out food for about 6 weeks, I think the fella was called Bobby Sands. I once had a YB that dropped into a local loft he kept it in a rabbit hutch for 3 days with just water before knocking to find out if it was mine, she was just feather and bone but recovered, he said he didn't feed her because he didn't want to encourage her to come back. She never stayed out again and was known to fly home in the dark rather than drop in anywhere. |
