yes they race,they race very good as well,my hens fly just as good if not better than my cocks especially this year..i have,nt got floor grills on my floors to stop them pairing so i have to do this,i feed my hens in troughs as well,not pots on the boxes,just water ones.they get as much food as they want then are locked up.there is a devider betbox so the hens cannot see each other.also they are excercised twice a day,normally the hens get themselves super fit by going away for between 20 and 50 minutes..the cocks a bit harder to get fit though

Its just summat about floor grills that makes them feel uncomfortable, same as the perches, the hens cant get cosy with each other.
No David they wasnt as they cant get to it.
I do a thing with yb to stop hens paring and that is to put a mesh hatch in the wall partition, so they can see the cocks and I just open and close at will.
